About NoRouteA.com

NoRouteA.com is coordinating the No Route A movement.

This shot depicts roughly where the Route A transmission line from PPL would cross the Delaware. At the far left would be the three-lane and Cummins Hill. On the far right is Montague, NJ. Crossing here would also require a tower on an island in the river. (Photo (C) Geoffrey Peckham)

NoRouteA.com is an ad hoc group of interested folks from around Milford, Shohola and Westfall, and our colleagues immediately across the Delaware River in New Jersey, that came together in the space of a couple of days in 2008 to stop PPL from choosing Route A as its preferred power line route. Route A would cross the Delaware River roughly at the three-lane, near Cummins Hill Road.

In addition, Route A would have required miles of new right-of-way from private landowners, and a new crossing of the Appalachian Trail in New Jersey.  There is an existing power line route (Route B), which passes through NPS park land to the south of us.

Let us stress that there is no good solution here — a crossing of the Delaware River and the Appalachian Trail will have adverse impacts. It is also a difficult spot for those who oppose any of the power line routes, considering that two state PUCs have already said the line is needed. But one course of  action the NPS could take is “no action”, in which the existing line remains but there’s no expansion.

What can you do?

I am VERY MUCH opposed to the Route A powerline and wish to register my vote. Is this how I do that?
